  •  The reason I owned two Civics, (12+ / 0-)

for more than 10 years each, was that I used to drive a Subaru, the second of two Subarus, each bought new and each wildly unreliable and expensive to own. I realize that is not their press, but that was my experience in the 80s.

Having gotten divorced from the person who was so devoted to Subarus, I made the last payment on mine in 1990 and was just thinking, as I drove to work, I guess I'll just drive this for a while and save up the car payment money for a new car, when the Subaru quit for some stupid reason and there I was on the shoulder of I-287 waiting for AAA again. (The reason I have had my cell number since 1985 is, I used to have a car phone so I could call AAA.)

During my ride in the tow truck, I told my story to the driver. He said, If you want to know what kind of car I tow the least, it's Honda. So, when my dad picked me up after work, we detoured to a Honda dealer and I bought a Civic.

The only reason I drive a VW Golf diesel now is, it was time for a new car and I showed up at the Honda dealer apparently on "Too Lazy to Sell Anything Day". Since nobody there felt like talking to me, I went to the VW dealer instead. I am crazy about this VW. It's at the high end of your stated price range, but it's a somewhat nicer car than the Civic and provides excellent performance AND excellent fuel economy.

However, I would totally have bought another Civic if they'd have sold me one. I found both of mine super reliable and cheap to drive, with good fuel economy, few repairs needed, and effective operation on regular gas. (The Subaru would knock like it was going to explode on anything less than the highest-octane premium.)

So that's all I know. Good luck with whatever you pick!

I  believe that it stems from your gender not any kind of calendar event. How can you possibly be planning on buying anything if you are a girl there without a Male Advice Giver!!!??!!11??

A friend also had a similar experience with Subaru ownership. They clearly have the best PR firm in the world to have bamboozled so many people.

Words have meaning. Our words will reflect what is in our souls.
