    When there was some buzz in the press a few weeks ago that perhaps MSL had detected methane in the atmosphere, a reporter asked Dr. Grotzinger about it at a press conference. He would only say, "we have nothing to report on that yet--stay tuned." No coy hints, just a flat statement. A couple days later they officially announced that they had not detected methane, so while a bit of a disappointment you couldn't fault anyone for hyping it.

    But now he is dropping that the result of the sample analysis is looking like "one for the history books"--quite a bit more buildup than usual.
