  •  Your outrage with Papa John's is misplaced (0+ / 0-)

    and based on false reporting.

As mentioned above, the owner of Papa John's never said those things.

Go read John Schnatter's account of what was truly said at HuffPo -

The Real Scoop on Papa John's and Obamacare

Many in the media reported that I said Papa John's is going to close stores and cut jobs because of Obamacare. I never said that. The fact is we are going to open over hundreds of stores this year and next and increase employment by over 5,000 jobs worldwide. And, we have no plans to cut team hours as a result of the Affordable Care Act.
He simply predicted that some franchise owners might cut hours.  He recounted that Hawaiian business owners faced with a state law similar to Obamacare already have done just that.. found the "loopholes" in the law.

We will see this behavior from businesses all across America starting next year.  It is one of the weakest parts of ACA.  A single payer system funded through payroll deductions would have made a lot more sense and avoided these "loopholes".

So.. basically, your facts are wrong.  You might want to update your diary with that.

From Schnatter's lips... he's "not supportive of Obamacare".  The diarist provided no incorrect information, but pointed out that when companies take political positions they shouldn't be surprised when people vote with their spending.

      •  "not supportive".. outrageous!!! (0+ / 0-)

Did you bother to read that article??  He said his business will be able to absorb the costs just fine or pass them along.. wow!  The man is on a one-man mission against Obamacare!

For that matter, I'm not very supportive of Obamacare.  ACA is bad law and will not do the one thing Obama promised us he would do - lower costs of actual medical care or insurance!

    •  There are other (0+ / 0-)

sources of quotes from Mr. Papa Johns linked in this thread from other commenters that suggest he's no fan of Obamacare.  And I'm not overly impressed with his pull back statements via the HP.  Sounds like someone who got some heat trying to back out of the kitchen.

But in any case, he's just one example of what is way too common for me these days, and my "outrage" was hardly specific to only him---and it's more like severe irritation or the suffering fools variety.

"A typical vice of American politics is the avoidance of saying anything real on real issues." Theodore Roosevelt.
