  •  Predictable result of a oligarchy in the making (4+ / 0-)

There are business people exerting the power that being a business gives them in a capitalist economy.  And while these efforts may be ham handed and, frankly, stupid you can bet that they will learn from this and try again later.

The revolution will not be televised. But it will be blogged, a lot. Probably more so than is necessary.

    •  Progressives should use business for progressive.. (0+ / 0-)

      purposes.

Yes, its high time we should be mixing business and politics.

Socially-Responsible and Ecologically-Responsible business approaches and investment decisions are super important -- possibly the highest leverage way for scaling-up progressive aspirations for our economy.

For example : for 30+ yrs as a consultant and service provider, I've refused business from the worst 50% of potential corporate customers -- I've been happy to alienate the oil companies, coal companies, nuclear companies, chemical companies, and many others who are destroying our ecosystem.

I've walked away from, or alienated in advance, those who would use my technology services to do damage to the planet.

More generally, my business is not just "mixed" with politics -- the underlying reason I do business (rather than just have a job) is to have the freedom and platform to fund and implement my activism.

Hell yeah, I practice what I'm preaching here -- and heartily recommend it to my fellow progressive ecopreneurs.

#3: ensure network neutrality; #2: ensure electoral integrity; #1: ensure ecosystemic sustainability.
