  •  Big problem but hopeful signs since '06 (0+ / 0-)

Just about as upsetting as Chambliss grossly violating the boundaries is the fact that the boundaries themselves have moved so far away from reason and civility.  Cleland got hit worst of all, and it's a massive injustice that he's been a casualty twice (war, then politics).  But many have paid the price for the bottom-feeding, Atwater/Rove style of politics.  Ironically, it's the public that both suffers most and enables it.  The hopeful note is all the good people we've been able to elect since '06 -- it seems that the GOP lost their persuasive traction around that time.  People saw through it; GOP attacks haven't been sticking as well.  That's a silver lining of the disastrous presidency of Bush the Child. So we are moving in a good direction.
