a comment in another of your diaries.  The name just popped into my head: The Blackboard Jungle.  It was written in 1955 (I had no idea it was written so long ago).  There have been one or two movies made which I've not seen. The book is excellent.  You have probably read it, but in case not I highly recommend it.

As an experienced multi-cat household person, I'll pass along a recommendation about litter.  "The World's Best Cat Litter".  It's more expensive than others, but it lasts much longer. It's also safe for cats.  Other scoopable litter contains a chemical that is thought by many to cause feline triaditis.  This litter is also the best at keeping odor at a minimum.

We lost one of our best buddies to triaditis 8 years ago, after a long illness, when it was first being seen in cats.  Our vet is fantastic.  She called all over the country for input from other vets.

The most effective treatment (along with some oral meds) was acupuncture which drastically changed his blood chemistry for the better...he had no joint nor mobility problems.  Because of her experience with Buster, she spent 8 weeks out of state to learn veterinary acupuncture.

Sorry to have gone off topic - I know you're a loving cat papa as well as a committed educator.
