  •  I'm completely with you on the personhood (6+ / 0-)

    issue.
I don't have the exact same feelings you do about unwanted pregnancies -- but that's as it should be. As women, we each have our own feelings about pregnancy and about our bodies, and we should have the right to make the decisions that are best for us without interference. Freely given support, comfort, and empathy are fine, but we will not accept someone else making decisions for us.
I've given birth to 3 children and adopted one. I've been lucky in the sense that all my pregnancies were planned, all my babies desired and eagerly awaited.
I know what it is to be fearful of being pregnant. I know what it is to lose children. I know what's needed to take care of a baby, a toddler, a 'tween -- to raise a child to adulthood. To quote Ann Romney's most (and only) profound statement during the campaign, "it's hard." (Last night I was up til 1:30 am with my 12-year-old as she finished the draft of her research paper due today). And it's all worth it if having that child is your choice.
But that's the key -- it's our right to make that choice and we can't allow that right to be stolen by some pseudo-religious/sick-minded/scientifically-intelligence-challenged politician.
