"Fiscal Cliff", but a politically motivated scare campaign to disenfranchise American workers economically is, of course, what needs to be focused on... The bankers and energy companies want to extend and protect the status quo, because it means immediate financial return versus the distant (for businessmen distant is around two years) threat of climate change. Where is the fierce urgency of now, when the threat of war, famine, pestilence and mass death is just over the horizon? Oddly, it is absent from the discussion...

The 1%, including our political leaders, think they can buy themselves out of the effects of climate change, after all, we do tend to ration by price in the "free market" globalized greed-fest that is modern life. Who cares if millions of people die due to water shortages, food shortages, mass migrations and the national/international conflicts caused by desertification, drought, acidification of the oceans and agricultural collapse. Initially it will be third world brown people in the tropics, far away and poor, so what's the big deal?

I am sick of our so called leaders, they don't give a damn about the masses, only about their own power and maintaining the status quo.
