  •  Do the Democrats have the guts? (0+ / 0-)

"But the fact that saying no to Norquist has become an appealing way to declare (limited) political independence shows how much the battle over taxes on the wealthy favors Democrats. Now if Democrats in Congress will just stand their ground..."

But will they stand their ground?  Please forgive my cynicism and my "lack of faith," but when the rubber really meets the road, I'm not sure that they will.  Don't forget that Congressional Democrats -- both House and Senate -- have a horrible history of caving in to the Republicans when push comes to shove.  And Barak Obama is just as bad as the Congress critters are.

I would LOVE to be proven wrong, but given the Democrats' past history, I'm afraid I'm right.  But I am mopre than willing for them to prove me wrong through their conduct when the opportunity arises.

    •  As President Obama said, "Citizenship doesn't end (0+ / 0-)

      with voting."

So, if you want the Democrats to stand their ground, you have to contact your own Congressperson and Senators, tell them how you feel about the issue, talk to your friends, neighbors, and families, and get them to contact their Congresspeople and Senators also.

There's no question that the people in Congress will be hearing from the special interests.  The question is, will they be hearing from the American people?
