back in 2009, community garden plot was vandalized and a huge number of my vegetables were stolen. One of the worst moments ever.

I wasn't starving, not by a long shot - I had unemployment and savings - but that garden was the only thing going well for me just then.

What came out of it was wonderful, though - my fellow gardeners heard about it - and heard I was unemployed - and scarcely a week would go buy when someone wouldn't sidle up and hand me a bag of lettuce or a perfect tomato or a bouquet of dahlias "to cheer me up."  Sometimes, they'd let me give them a bunch of parsley or a handful peas in return, sometimes not - but the generosity and caring they demonstrated will remain with me always.

I am sorry to hear you lost the effort of all your hard work. But how great people banded together to help you. And showed you sympathy and true support.*
Right after the medical bankruptcy, we were really OUT OF FOOD for  two days. Tea with sugar was going to be our dinner. And our gruff, "Tea Bagger" neighbor stopped over both nights, with huge parcels of veggies he had grown in his side lot.
He had no idea of our monetary woes, and he only stopped those two times. But it really seemed like the  Universe wanted him to provide for us. (I now try to keep that in mind when he goes on and on about his rRW politics.)

Offer your heart some Joy every day of your life, and spread it along to others.
