  •  Never read the novel, but sat the movie many times (13+ / 0-)

....because I worked at a movie theater when it was released.

On opening weekend, we had a packed house (the film caught some additional local buzz here in Michigan because parts of it were shot in Detroit, which was very rare at the time). Halfway through the film, some asshole who had read the book shouted out the Big Twist Ending® to the crowd. I thought they were gonna lynch the guy on the spot.

I had happened to guess the ending myself during an advance employee screening, but I take no pride in it; my guess wasn't based on any deductive reasoning or insight into the characters, I just picked an unlikely outcome by chance and happened to be proven correct.

Great flick. Greta Scacchi never looked hotter and made up for Harrison Ford's ridiculous "Julius Caesar" haircut.

Plus, John Spencer (Leo from The West Wing) has a fantastic cameo, Brian Dennehy is solid as always, and Bonnie "Holly McClaine" Bedelia does a great turn as Ford's wife.
