  •  I was lucky to see reenactors, all AfAmericans (10+ / 0-)

    at a symposium on the history of the monument...discuss what the movie meant to them as a model for being the 54th...

    Afterwards, they marched in costume and accurate Civil War formation around Boston's Public Garden and saluted all the monuments to the radical abolitionist politicians including the controversial ones (monuments and politicians!).

     That night, they showed Glory at the Hatch Shell, the outdoor Band Shell where the Pops plays on the 4th of July...

    It was the days before digital...i don't think I have photos...Maybe the sponsors do....I think it was Suffolk University....
