    between saying that we should tout them and raise awareness of their existence and success and being afraid that if we did we'd be making them targets for the vultures to figure a way to gut them. ::sigh::

    US credit unions keep a very low profile specifically because they're terrified of the banking lobby noticing them again and taking further action.

      There are a few co-ops and employee owned businesses growing where I am, my Credit Union for one. Iowa seems a good place for credit unions, at least in the east, there are a couple big ones that do real good by their costumers.

      Also, I just learned about a cable/internet co-op that's been expanding. They don't quite have coverage where I am yet, but I cannot wait for someone to give Mediacom some real competition, they've have a monopoly for too long.
