  •  If we want to eliminate the GOP House (1+ / 0-)

we need to take a serious look at pushing anti-gerrymandering amendments through the initiative process. I don't think that it's coincidence that we gained seats in California, Arizona, and Florida (blue state, red states, purple states) all states that have passed some degree anti-gerrymandering amendments. If we target Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania (Virginia?) all states that have some forms of amendment processes we could flip delegations that are 2/3 Republican closer to 50/50.

The bonus is this is a good government reform. Term limits that were en vogue in the GOP in the 90's were sold as a good government reform. But their real goal was that in states like Florida old "bull dog" (now blue dog) conservative incumbent Democratic state Senators that the GOP tried countless times and failed to beat were term limited out. Once they were gone the GOP took control of the Florida legislature and gerrymandered the crap out of the state. Democrats should use a similar strategy to win the states I mentioned.

As for Hillary's age I believe you're wrong. People who do not perform physical work are much healthier now than before. Judges and CEO's are fine working at that age. 75-76 at the end of her term is fine, I wouldn't be worried unless a POTUS would be 80.

As for reddening of many states. Let's face it much of it was raced based. A Hillary would most likely swing many of these voters back to the Dem's plus she could do it without losing blacks and Latinos. The GOP is close to maxing out the white vote in Texas. 2008 was a year when all tailwinds were behind the Democrats, going into 2012 most people thought Democrats were facing headwinds (namely the economy). The fact Democrats did as well as we did is a positive.

Your feelings that only crazy statements helped the Democrats is also slightly off. THAT IS THE GOP. Remember crazy statements cost the GOP the Senate in 2010 and yet they still did the same thing. That is their base, OK. Unless you think the Glen Becks, Pam Gellers, Michelle Malkins, WorldNets, of the world are going to moderate they will keep on whipping up their faithful to fight and win in primaries. Also many of these folks were helped by smart Democrats who "helped" them win their primaries (Clair McKaskill did this) why would Democrats stop?
