    although, when you look at the projected costs of Medicare/Medicaid it's hard to not conclude that they'll need increased funding to perform as they need to. what people seem to never discuss, is just actually figuring out what that amount is and pledging to simply pay it no matter what. we could actually just do that. whatever it costs, we pay, as in, it would be illegal not to.

    there's such doom & gloom about these programs because of the swell of retirees coming from the baby boomers. so, we just spend more on that for a while and less on some other things. it will still be stimulative spending, it will still improve quality of life and save money every time someone gets early care from an MD instead of the ER, and then, after a decade or so, the #s will proportionately go down as fewer people enter the programs.

    and I have to add, Durbin doesn't have the ability to put this on or take it off the table by himself. it's a good sign he's saying this though, as the logic of publicly stating that SS doesn't add to the deficit is sound. more people need to know this, few people actually know that's a true statement.
