Not impossible, but not easy to do. And a commercial license is just the start. Really.

My most difficult test (not including jets) was flying a Multi-engine checkride with an instrument and commercial license and Flight instructor licenses already. The Inspector failed the left engine on an ADF (automatic direction finder, 40s technology) approach to minimums (like, 300 feet) under the hood (instrument only) 270 degrees thru the circle and wanted to see that I could pull that out and land Ok. And I did. That's what you might have to do the very next day. And I'm not even an airline pilot....they have it worse, more complex aircraft...but they do have a helper....

So some tests are more theoretical than others. When it comes to practical tests, support them. Hard to fake stupidity or fear....

Without geometry, life is pointless. And blues harmonica players suck.

Agreed that it's not easy to do, but as you say, not impossible.  Perhaps it's more common outside the U.S.  See here and here.

Absolutely, I support testing, both theoretical and practical.  I also support maintaining the integrity of the testing agencies, which is vital.

Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.
