due to the draconian height limits placed on buildings.  If they weren't some derangedly afraid of "Manhattanization," they would actually be able to avoid it a lot longer by having bigger living spaces in taller buildings.  Instead they're making people live in broom closets in order to keep their sight lines.  It's lame.

    •  well space limitations on prisoners is also (0+ / 0-)

self inflicted I suppose.  The newer prisons are constructed as modular "boxes" without such amenities as substantial ducting and venting to prevent escapes.  I understand Charlie the Tuna is the consultant for these new units.

      •  Something wrong with the math? (0+ / 0-)

22 sq feet per person? That's say 4 feet by 5.5 feet. Couldn't even fit a bunk bed. Now maybe that's a 2 person or 10 person cell, but it's awfully tight for two people. I t ink there's something wrong in the factoid.  I can't imagine a cell of less than 48 sq feet, and even that is brutally small. 22 s feet is silly.

What drives me crazy about living in SF (and truly, this is the only thing that drives me crazy about living here, otherwise it's heaven) is how many of my peers fight against any and all development, while screaming and wailing about expensive rent. Pick a side, friends.
