    a lot of money if hyper-frequent trading continued at anything like the present levels -- and if hyper-trading slowed down, that would be a good thing in and of itself.

    When "invesment banks" are competing to get their computers as physically close as possible to the exchanges' computers, because the difference between the time it takes electrons to travel down a hallway compared to another building a block away makes a difference in competitive advantage, you KNOW that a lot of what is going on is the opposite of actual investing and the essence of speculation.
