But I had thought in my young years that people who would aspire to the highest court in the land would be focused on what good they could do.

Now, I am no longer sure.  It took us 100 years, or perhaps a little less, of good presidents trying to get universal healthcare.  I do not claim that the Affordable Care Act is perfect.  But what we know from the past is that what we can pass can be made better over time as healing in the minds and institutions adjust to the change.

Somehow, I had no hopes for this Court before the decision that let Affordable Care Act live.  The Citizen's United case proved my worst fears.  Then the Chief Justice found something in himself that was what I am going to consider a decent side, something deeper and longer lasting than the charming smile.

I think I would sit down and cry if the cold hearts on the court got hold of this chance for ordinary people to have health care even with a pre-existing condition, and if those justices found ways to take it away, to take away it and hope.

    •  Sorry, I don't consider that Justice Roberts (0+ / 0-)

has found a "decent" side.  I think Justice Roberts realized that his legacy as Chief Justice was in peril and the reputation of the court would be devolved into just another partisan branch of the government.

And just ask anyone who would be eligible for Medicaid in any of  the states that now refuse to expand their state's program whether the court had found a way to take away their chance at health care.
