    I remember that list. Mine often included:

    Stop looking at me like I did something wrong because I'm a single mom. This was not my choice, I was married. I can't help it if he couldn't keep it in his pants.

    And another personal favorite, Don't congratulate me on adopting the dark skinned child. I gave birth to her. Please, keep your ignorant racist comments to yourself.

    Phew, felt good to vent those two!

    It's been years since I felt I needed to say anything like these, but over the weekend, my own mother said to me that my 19 year old shouldn't hold my arm because someone, anyone, might think she and I are a couple. From my mom? And, hey, I could care less what anyone else thinks, she's my kid and I'm proud of her and glad when she helps her mom across the road or down a step or two. Shouldn't we all raise our kids to be this kind and generous?
