    Why shouldn't they reduce the number of Senators needed to end a filibuster (20 per year at 60, 20 at 55, 20 at 52). A wise minority would save a few in case something important to them came up. I picked 20 because that was about the rate they were done in 1970s.

    The real reason repugs are against stem cell research : Someone may grow a spine for dems in the future

    •  Way too many filibusters under that rule. The (0+ / 0-)

      Republicans WANT to waste time and block all forward movement.  We don't.  And they shouldn't have unlimited (or nearly unlimited) rights to.  This whole filibuster thing is "traditional," but not sacred, not constitutional, and not rational.  If many Dems are still not willing to trash the whole thing, the number of filibusters should be sharply limited.  Two or three by any one party in any congressional session is more than enough.  It was originally a rarely used, extreme measure.  LEt's get it back to that status, right now.
