    But the current brand embraces the nativist Tea Partiers, who can barely control their virulent racism.  Of course Asian-Americans, as well as Latino-Americans, would recoil from this attitude, correctly seeing it as a threat and an attack on their own legitimacy as American citizens.  The vote suppression nonsense confirmed these fears.  

    Silicon Valley used to be closer to centrist than it is now.  The current Republican platform is poison to a community with so many immigrants and children of immigrants.  (There's plenty of other reasons as well.). 10-20 years ago Republicans represented some districts around here. Not any more and not any time in future if they stick to this approach.

    Also the California Republican Party is pretty much cratered. Their one up and coming star quit the party and went Independent. They don't have anyone else in the current political leagues to run for a statewide office, not that they'd get enough votes to win.  Maybe that's why we get rich business types who try to buy themselves an election. And lose.
