But this is the difference in my America.

In my America I know that my sisters can be killed with impunity by their husbands.

In my America, I can be raped and stalked and tortured but will have to explain what I was wearing or why I drove my car to that area of town at that time of day/night.

In my America, I have to watch where I walk, watch my mouth, keep my eyes to myself.

In my America, men in suits get to decide what type of Birth Control I can afford.

I've even seen women turn away from their sisters who have clearly been the victim of violence.

A black eye on a woman's face is usually seen as only her shame.  Not the shame of the man who forced it there.

    Sad isn't it?

In this America, VAWA Violence Against Women Act is being beaten down.

I wish it was taboo to hit a woman or a child, someone weaker.  Your comment made me smile because I know you would stand up for people, but sad too because it really made me realize how different the country my husband lives in versus the one I do.

    take care. :)
