  •  yeah, flinging poo. (0+ / 0-)

because they don't want to be responsible for managing Dodge fucking City.

it's not political correctness for people to want to be allowed to go about their business without being surrounded by self-appointed heroes waiting for their moment in the sun.

this whole concealed-carry bullshit is about nothing but right-wing propagandists casting around for non-issues with which to bludgeon liberal politicians.

To put the torture behind us is, inevitably, to put it in front of us.

I live in the Great Red Spot, which has purpled up some.
Much to the consternation of my local RW rag. they finally called to clear this letter yesterday, which i wrote shortly after the election:

First, grow up, and second, own your statements.

I read with dismay your op-ed following the election. Of particular note is this passage:

"Based on the fact that St. Johnsbury is sending a pair of Democrats to the House for the first time ever, we suspect it won't be long before even Kingdom voters sacrifice the principle of self-reliance for the promise of a government handout."

It's regrettable that I have to do this in the first place, but I'd like to respectfully request that you people grow the hell up and lose the juvenile political identity smears.

This kind of stuff is a huge part of why Republicans lose in Vermont, why Vermonters First SuperPAC funder Lenore Broughton could sink close to a million dollars into trying to buy statewide elections and get next to nothing for it, and why the same was true on a larger, national scale with all the money the Koch Brothers and Sheldon Adelson threw away, with essentially no return on their investments, and Republicans receiving a much deserved and resounding rejection of their ideas and their rhetoric by the people of this nation.

Conservatives would do well to note that, despite all their money and all their rhetoric designed to pit one American - or one Vermonter - against another,  if they do not change course and adapt to a changing reality, they will continue to lose elections.

I'd also opine that it might display a certain integrity were the author of such divisive screeds identify him or herself by name on the op-ed page, rather than simply hiding behind the skirts of the newspaper's masthead.

I suspect the tone might be somewhat different if the authors of these pieces were held to the same standard that submitters of letters to the editor, such as myself, are held.

                    Respectfully -

                    Eddie Garcia

                  I live it every day.
Democrats hold the governorship, every major statewide office but one, and supermajorities in both chambers in Montpelier.
And are not nearly stupid enough to fuck that up by calling for infringment of people's right to self defense. See my sig line? that's why we carry concealed here without a permit.
It would be unconstitutional here, according to an attorney friend of mine who is the son of someone whose name you'd recognize were I to drop it.
