  •  I had a bet (15+ / 0-)

with my father-in-law two weeks before the election.  I said Obama would win by 8 points or better.  He recently moved from the east coast and really doesn't know much about Michigan politics, despite his best efforts.  He said it would be close.  I think he read too many newspapers.

I've been around Michigan politics a long time.  Over the course of the last 2-3 weeks going into election day you could tell how this was heading.  When I saw turnout was heavy literally every where before the polls even opened, I knew I would win the bet.

Now only if Michiganders voted like this in non-Presidential years.  The problem is we pick our governor, lt. gov, SOS, AG, and almost all state senate seats during non-Presidential years.  It's very frustrating and one of the reasons why Democrats haven't controlled the state senate since the 1980s.

    •  Any way to do a citizens initiative (0+ / 0-)

to change your constitution and move the state elections to presidential years (and to vote on the initiative in a presidential election)? I suppose Eclectablog is probably the expert on such things.
