"News" is just a brand in this country--there is no expectation that it be true.  Ricks was being kind, because it's possible for news to function as a wing of the Republican Party simply by being selective or through their commentary--this can be seen in MSNBC, where they lean Democrat in this way.  But Fox is the definition of propaganda.  They manufacture stories and outrage in support of the party and corporate interests.  Benghazi is another scandal that they are inventing through pure speculation/ bullshit.  If they called it Fox Propaganda would people still watch it?

readily acknowledge their political preferences.  Their news people during the day ask questions that reveal a bias, but they don't ever proclaim that they're "fair and balanced," a judgment they leave to their viewers.  The graying of FOX will be their undoing just as it is for us all.  MSNBC is smart to keep the youth vibe going.

"The Place for Politics" along with "Lean Forward" at the top of the frame. Unlike FNC, they're not outwardly positioning themselves as a "news" channel.

In fact, neither MSNBC or FNC are hiding who they are or what they're doing -- it's just that Fox viewers aren't nearly smart enough to figure it out.

Nowhere is the codependence between Ignorance and Bliss more obvious than in the relationship between Fox News and their core audience.
