males. I am one myself. I could care less about race or ethnicity or religion and care more about ideology. The bigger problem with the house republicans is the term limit deal which allow a lot of inexperienced and sometimes incompetent legislators to rise to the top.

    •  No, there's nothing wrong with white men (7+ / 0-)

What's wrong is not the individuals (except insofar as they are GOP and hence, wrong by definition).  What's wrong is that, in a country where the electorate is > 50% women and a growing percentage minority, only white men are represented in the leadership subset.

In the lab, that would indicate that there's a semi-permeable filter somewhere.

I mean, you could do a chi-squared test on that and come up with an actual mathematical value for how biased these leadership choices are.

Do you not see that it is the grossest idolatry to speak of the market as though it were the rival of God?

      •  well, white males are the GOP's strongest (0+ / 0-)

demographic, so it would make sense. A lot of the dems ranking members are also from their own demographic strongholds.

but it isn't just. If this were simply a GOP matter it wouldn't be a big deal. But these are the committee chairs of the House, the whole House, the part of government that was discussed in the Federalist papers as being the most representative of the people.

Of course if Republicans don't have members representative of the people then they can't elevate them to chair status. But that's not a justification of narrowness, it's a description of their lacking the legitimacy to lead.

these types and not much of anybody else, that would indicate problems in outreach and leadership with them. While the Democratic party is far more diverse, therefore more representative of a nation of immigrants of all races, native Americans and former slaves, not to mention, women. More than half of us are women. Where are the women in this lineup?

    •  the problem isn't the white men... (0+ / 0-)

it's that they're hogging all the power.

It's not their identity it's their privilege...
