    The tax increase the President supports and would go through should the House take up the bill passed by the Senate is not on people who earn more than $250,000.

    Rather, taxes would go up on income greater than $250,000. This is important because tax rates are marginal, so everyone would still pay a lower rate on the first $250,000 earned. It also takes away the Republican talking point about vilifying people.

    We don't want to increase taxes on people, we want to increase taxes on income.
