  •  A conversation I had today... (8+ / 0-)

at Weight Watchers, where I went for the first time in a couple of months (I know, I know).  There were two women checking people in, one I know is a Republican, the other I thought was a Democrat.  I was asked why I hadn't been in two months and explained I had been busy with election-related stuff in October, and then had a cold earlier in November, which got us started on politics.  Here in Virginia we have elections every year, and next year is Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General and all House seats, as well as a few Senate seats.  The Dem mentioned that we'll have a few months off before things pick up again and that she was surprised at how much she was contacted by either the state GOP or the Romney campaign.  I said that I'd been contacted a lot too, which led her to remark that "the Romney campaign was all money and no brains."  All three of us laughed at that.  Then we discussed who was running for Governor next year.  At this point it looks like Terry McAuliffe and Ken Cuccinelli, our teahadist Attorney General, which prompted the Republican woman to blurt out "I hate him and won't vote for him under any circumstances."  There is hope, at least in this corner of Virginia.
