Mitt Romney strategist Stuart Stevens is a genius.

I hope he advises all future GOP Presidential hopefuls to similar wins:

The strategist also suggested Obama’s state-by-state approach was key to his victory.

“Let me be the first to say they ran a great campaign,” Stevens said. “It was a campaign they could have lost and they won, and that’s the definition of a great campaign in my book. They ran very state-specific issues, less of a national campaign. That was not why Gov. Romney was running. He wanted to talk about big national issues: debt, entitlement, the future of the country. He wanted to put big issues before the country, and he did that. I think the comparisons of those two was striking. It was striking in the debates.”

    •  Big issues, maybe? (4+ / 0-)

but no content to fill them with. As I try to teach my freshmen writing students, saying "I will fix the economy" doesn't get you very far without specifics, especially when you're the challenger. And then he fell backwards from that to "If I'm elected, people will be so delighted that the economy will magically fix itself."

What's the Utah/California/Massachusetts/Mormon equivalent of "large hat, no cattle"?
