  •  Stubborn is so very subjective. (3+ / 0-)

Lucy obeys me without question. Most of the time. Lucy doesn't always respond so well to her Mrs. I've been unemployed for almost three years now so Lucy and me are together constantly. We think that's part of the issue.

Among other things, she (Mrs) gets frustrated sometimes while walking Lucy as the dog wants to sniff everything along the way. There's no such thing as a quick walk.

I liken Lucy's walk habits to ours of reading the newspaper in the morning: We're all catching up on the days news. We read, she sniffs.

I watch a beagle go by the house most days and the poor thing wants to sniff everything along the way. The owner never stops or slows down and the little dog is dragged along on its "walk".

    Nose down, tail up!

...religion is the smile on a dog...

    •  Sniffing is what hounds do best (0+ / 0-)

Though my husband claims what my bassets do best is drool.  We don't even call it going for a walk, it's going for a sniff.  Up the block (a long block) and back can take a good 20 minutes.  All of the scent hounds are stubborn, and I wouldn't trade them for anything.

      •  I agree (0+ / 0-)

I watch Charlie sniff for 7/8 of her playtime. And I think they might not actually be 'stubborn' as we say, but they are so in to what their noses are telling them, they don't even hear us calling.
Like I said, I took a break from Beagles. You really need to know the breed and what you are getting if you decide to have one.
I have had her for over a year. She climbs my fence and goes for a walk. She knows it is wrong, cuz when comes back, she is shivering thinking she is going to get in trouble.
I just tell her bad dog, put her on her leash in time out.
        Repeat,,,,,,

America never needed so much in the last election and got so little.
