Just asking, because of the reference to 'keep our property values up'.

To me, and I'm Australian so I may not understand the nuances in the U.S., there is a BIG difference between a manufactured home (especially of the size you quote) on it's own land and something on a rented lot.

That said, I suspect the money comment from your post is '95% white'.

    •  It depends upon the development. (0+ / 0-)

I'm not sure who owns the land at the The Hawthorne. It bills itself as a community owned development. So, I think when you buy a home there, you own the land too. They actually have a sheriff's sub-station on the property and an EMT station too. All homeowners have to be part of the Association.

Other housing developments with cinderblock construction, the home owner's own the land their houses sit on. They too, require joing the Association.

I know a few people who live in the older parts of town that have no association. They seem to be happier to me.

...being a "manufactured home community" (read "trailer park"). There are still manufactured homes in the older sections of the development, but the newer areas of the development are made up of large site-built homes or "courtyard villas," some valued at $500,000 or more.

I vote we run Rick Scott out of Florida on a high-speed rail.
