  •  The melting of glaciers on land raises sea levels, (5+ / 0-)

    doesn't it (unlike sea ice melting)?  And because warmer water expands, the hottest year on record would also raise sea levels, wouldn't it?

    Are those two things what's going on here?

      noting how abnormally warm the waters have been off the coast of NYC this year, you'd expect the sea level would be higher due to thermal expansion at least.
