    We are already seeing some local authority or another constructing berms and a seawall along the Morris Canal inlet and the Colgate Clock. Didn't take them long after the storm to move into action.

    The water from the hurricane was 7 ft. deep in places and moved many blocks inland all through downtown Jersey City. Inside the historic train terminal in Liberty State Park, the water was more than 7 ft. deep inside for more than six hours.

    Of course, since this is mostly a poor city, it never hit the news.

    But this is going to totally change the way we see coastal development and the way cities treat their coastal real estate.
