    As I understand it: If Palestine recognizes Israel they lose their rights to compensation for lost/stolen lands. That would be a suicidal move for any Palestinian leader.

    Perhaps if Israel came up with a program to address these issues---and stopped stealing land today--it might be a step toward a more peaceful solution.

      wondering why they don't just "recognize" Israel.  If that is true then I understand the hesitancy.  However, seems like IF both parties really wanted a 2 state solution this could be worked out.  My thought is Israel at this point doesn't really want a 2 state and peace.  Political fear-mongering is not only here in the US.  Fear-mongering keeps lots of regimes in power when what the people really want is peace.
