    companies simply boot the insurance, and I think it's ridiculous to fine companies for not providing the insurance.

    Insurance should have never been linked to employment, and the only reason it was is because insurance companies only wanted to insure the people healthy enough to work.

    When companies have to pay for employee insurance, it causes unintended consequences, such as age discrimination.  Just the other day, I heard 2 small business-owners talking at a seminar about how they won't hire older people because the insurance costs skyrocket. [and this isn't illegal discrimination because the employers have less than 50 employees].

    Insurance as an employer-provided benefit needs to cease immediately.

      or firing older folk (unless they are Medicare eligible) but people are getting laid off when one of their family members insured under their policy gets very sick.
