  •  I commend you. (11+ / 0-)

Twitter is the most efficient means ever invented to make smart people stupid.

You can call it "class warfare" -- we call it "common sense"

    •  I beg to differ (4+ / 0-)

I would put forward that that honor belongs to the comment threads of newspaper blogs. I swear every time I come out of one I have to go read some Sartre or an astrophysics paper to raise my IQ again.

Twitter can be a cess pool of trolling and vituperation. It can also be a great caring environment. It can be a drag on your time or it can be a lot of fun. It's pretty much just like the rest of the Internet, although you have to frame your thoughts at 140 characters or less.

I also realize that it isn't for everybody, and some days it isn't for me. But just because someone trolls me or takes up abusive language is IMO no reason in and of itself no reason to leave Twitter. (There may be others but that isn't it.) I know how to block people I don't want to hear from. It makes it easier to keep trace of the people I do want to hear from.

If you can't say anything nice about the GOP, please post here more often.

      •  I see what you're saying (0+ / 0-)

but I gotta think most people arrive at the newspaper comments with that level of stupidity, whereas Twitter has this habit of seducing otherwise smart people into becoming reckless one-liner machines.
