  •  What a news panel show should be. (18+ / 0-)

"Up" is excellent.  It does what good journalism should do and used to do: inform and educate.

The Sunday shows used to where you went for more in depth information and discussion that the nightly news presented.  No more.  These shows have devolved to where there purpose is only to allow guests to present their views.  The viewer is charged with having to decide whether what they hear is true. The only engagement for the viewer is to choose who they believe.  Panelists and guests are selected via an insiders popularity contest.  A track record of lying, being spectacularly wrong, not knowing the facts is not sufficient to disqualify a panelist or guest as their purpose is no longer to inform and educate.

The major Sunday shows now exist as quid pro quo for network sources in exchange for the network's access.

MSNBC deserves kudo's for having the only panel shows that provide real journalism to accurately inform and educate its viewers.  If Chris Hayes deserves an Emmy for his work; he is the gold standard.
