I finally put the familiar name with the familiar voice and visage.

The times I have seen him I've generally like him and have been impressed with his style of moderating.

There was that one show though about the Catholic Church's objection to the provision in Obamacare that required insurers to cover birth control.  That segment set my teeth on edge.  But that was mostly due to several of the the commentators on the show and the guest from Notre Dame, not Chris Hayes.

Let's just say he's more than an acquaintance and less than a friend.  That's why I remember that segment very well.  It may have been the first time I ever viewed Chris Hayes' show.

The "Notre Dame guy" and I have had some rather jovially (yet on the edge of not jovial) political back-and-forth on FB this election season.

He can be charming on social occasions but his stance on social issues ... and some hypocrisy that I happen to be aware of (without him knowing that I am aware) vis-a-vis those social issues ... are appalling to this ex-Catholic.

And he is indeed a very smart guy ... just a smart guy with a beam in one eye.

through your computer screen and throw a glass of water in Mr. ND's face.....

I had to look up the Matthew 7 thing, but now I know what a mote is. :)
