    You can't frame this as "big corporations versus everyone else" because it's simply wrong.

    Go tell 150 million suburbanites that they are going to have to give up most of their cars and live in big cities. And take a 10-20% pay cut. See what the response is.

    All economic activity right now involves fossil fuels except for some very limited exceptions. Advocating using less fossil fuels  is tantamount to advocating less economic activity at the present time.

    Should we be pushing alternatives? Absolutely. But the battle lines are a lot more muddy than most people would accept.

      go out and build my own High Capacity power grid,

      or my own wind farm or solar farm, to light a city.


      There are some things society has to do in common,

      for the betterment of those who will follow.


      For example, if we had waited for individuals to build the the intrastate highway system, we'd still be waiting most likely.  


      There are just some things we have to do as a country.
      Businesses should do their part too, in our "nation building at home,"
      seeing as they benefit too, in the long run from any nationwide systems we all build as a country, together.
