But dude for a show which focuses on the clusterfuck that society would become in the event of this "situation". Its a stretch to argue that the TV show could endorse any "natural hierarchy" by its inclusion within the plot line.

If anything the script is a "what not to do"  or "worst case scenario"

The show directly confronts the topic to racism with a plastic feel good, no one likes you "Merle". Hes a racist, no one likes him, not even his family hes a generic villein.

    •  it is fiction; it is not real; as such the show (1+ / 0-)

involves decisions by writers that reflect certain taken for granted norms about society. power is about this.

i explore this in the essay. merle is a cartoon character trope who is perfect for a post-racial, colorblind age. a tired trope so that the white gaze can say "see that is a real racist" not like the rest of us.

      old game.

half of Otis and you know that.

They split Otis in two and came up with Daryl and Merle because there were no rednecks on the show.

Come on man this is easy stuff.

Who ya gonna shoot wit dat homie, you'd rather blast an original instead of a phony, true macaroni, you don't even know me, and why does your gun say n****z only?
