Ernest Dickerson. I'm sure as an African-American male he will give your complaints about the marginalization and portrayal of African-Americans in the series, all the thought it deserves.

    •  there are many black people such as Tyler Perry (0+ / 0-)

and others who engage in racist foolishness. during the high age of race minstrelsy there were black performers who pretended to be white men corking it up.

you need to separate individuals from systems. there are women advance sexing in the mass media; gays and lesbians who hurt their own community in the same way; poc who come up with anti-black and brown garage on the TV and in movies.

develop your ability to see the big picture.

    •  Actually its the Executive Producer he should (0+ / 0-)

complain to. And as for Ernest, he's one out six series directors on TWD, and I'm sure he's more concerned about keeping his job then rocking the race boat. You really don't get how Hollywood works.

      •  i do know how hollywood works... (0+ / 0-)

which is why none of this surprises me and i am very knowledgeable about how these narratives about race are reproduced. you are right, they don't want to deal with this. they are selling a product to make money. if they need to marginalize and/or silence people of color to do so, the execs and accountants and writers will. old story.

        •  You should follow Shadow and Act on indiewire (0+ / 0-)

and Racialicious, they cover all these issues, and more, unfortunately it's all they can do. Hollywood is gonna stick to its tired ass formula. Anyway, that's all I have to say. I look forward to reading more of your insightful diaries.
