    Haven't read the comic books and have only tangentially been following the series though I watched the marathon on Sunday.  

    Seems to me that Tyreese was presented as "reasonable" all the way through the episode, in his interactions with his own group before they entered the prison and at the prison as well.  He seems to place himself in other people's shoes whatever the situation and tries to be as humane as possible.

    Not to disagree with the diarist's reading of the race and power dynamics.  Just to say that there may be more going on than just race and power dynamics.

    Doesn't hurt that the actor playing Tyreese played a similar character, Cutty, in The Wire.
