    yes, rebut. no? the weight of what has transpired is important. you also have to be very mindful of how shows and other texts diffuse any criticism of their racial cues. for example, merle is an obvious canard. he is part of a post-racial colorblind trope where there are "real" racists. this is in keeping with the idea among many whites and others who are invested in white privilege that racism is largely a thing of the past and is confined to the kkk and overt violence.

    this lets day to day racism, both in the frontstage and the backstage off the hook.

    again, please explain away the examples i have offered? how do you find a race neutral explanation for the marginalization of black men on the show?
