  •  I personally loved T-Dog (0+ / 0-)

I was crushed when he died saving Carol.

I acknowledge that from a black person's point of view, the characters may be terrible caricatures.  And, if that's the consensus, then I will be behind any movement if it means a group of people can feel better represented even if it's in a TV show.  Maybe especially because it's a TV show.  How everyone is represented on TV is extremely important.

I completely understand what it means to be horribly represented on TV.  As I said, being gay, I've yet to see a gay person who isn't some ridiculous stereotype.  And I don't know how many arguments I've had where people argue that that's how gay people are, and I shouldn't feel offended.  It's harder to point out to those who don't experience it first hand.  So show me a petition on this issue, and I'll sign it, rec it, whatever.  I'm on your side.  I think this issue should be fixed.  And I'll also internalize this conversation to make sure I'm not seeing other minorities in such stereotypical ways.

So maybe I'm wrong, but I've loved the minority characters and women overall.  I wish Michonne was my best friend, frankly.  And I miss T-Dog, and I really hope that father and son we originally met are still alive.  Glenn is smart and totally bad ass.  Lori's sacrifice was heart wrenching. And Andrea's situation is crazy intriguing (and I love that she knows how to take care of herself as well).

I think the show has its flaws. Season 2 was a complete waste across the board. But seasons 1 and 3 have shown some great situations and characters.  I do hope they can introduce better male black characters for the sake of everyone though.  I don't like it when people see themselves misrepresented.
