  •  It would be nice if they said why they were top 5 (8+ / 0-)

They certainly were not the five largest. Five best? Not a list I have ever heard.

Esurance is now part of Allstate.

If I remember correctly, Consumers' Union rated Amica best.

    •  I just wanted to see if my insurer ... (6+ / 0-)

who is on that list, was the culprit. I picked the first site with only 5 insurers that had my insurer on the list.  Well mine would be on any such list.  It's certainly one of the top two.

I'm sure it is an arbitrary list like most crap on the "series of tubes".

    •  The description of State Farm is laughable. (3+ / 0-)

That in no way describes their prices or business practices.  I have first hand experience with them.

Allstate will also low-ball you like Mets103 was low-balled, but will be much more persistent at their evasion techniques when countered on their practices.  They'll wait you out - trying to see if you'll just give in due to the time without being paid, so you will accept a lower offer.

After over 40 years of driving, a couple accidents and living in various states, I wouldn't buy either of those two, again going on personal experience.

Sounds like "autos.com" is shilling to me.

      •  I've had to fix my own because the guy who (6+ / 0-)

hit me had State Farm and I had Allstate...and I had pictures proving that my truck had been hit out on the street by someone leaving a parking lot, while he claimed I hit him in that parking lot -- which he had to back up into to let me get my damaged vehicle out of the street....

It's been six months and I've not heard back from Allstate. I assume that because they claim I'm not liable and State Farm claims their driver's not liable, he had to fix -- or replace -- his vehicle too ...

I seriously think insurance is a protection racket.
