    That starts out promisingly enough:

Boehner Counters Obama’s Proposal on Deficit Reduction
    Published: December 3, 2012

WASHINGTON — Republican Congressional leaders countered President Obama’s deficit reduction proposal with a plan to cut the deficit by $2.2 trillion over the next decade by raising $800 billion in revenue and cutting $1.2 trillion in spending.

But then reveals that it's yet another substanceless "offer" that promises a certain amount of revenue but doesn't offer any specifics as to how it'll be raised:
Under the Republican offer, tax revenue would rise by $800 billion over 10 years, through closing loopholes and ending or curtailing deductions and tax credits. Mr. Boehner did not specify on Monday which tax breaks would be curtailed.
At least the article admitted that Boehner wasn't offering any specifics. But it started out with the dishonest suggestion that this was a serious offer.

If I publically declare that I've figured out how to generate electricity via nuclear fusion but without providing any details, will the NYT also write an article about me? It doesn't even have to be on the front page!

This is embarrassing, for both Boehner and the NYT, and just reinforces the fact that the media continues to take Repubs far more seriously than they have any right to be taken, while continuing to treat Dems unfairly.
