  •  Srsly? I mean, Grats 'n stuff, but... srsly?! (4+ / 0-)

The guy who calls for hunting down people in the desert gets re-elected but loses a bid for a leadership post.  LEADERSHIP!?!  ...and we call this progress.

The sad thing is that the diarist is right.. this is progress.. and we should be glad to see the GOP finally not promoting up their frothiest flavor of crazy, but for fuck's sake people...  SRSLY?!

How low of a bar has this party set for itself?

      explicitly labeled my derisive sarcasm.

Especially, when I said it was "encouraging."

Sadly, to a poignantly tragic extent, this is really progress for the Kansas GOP, sort of at the same level that voters kicking out Murdouch and Atkins.

The only encouraging thing about it is there does seem to be some bottom limit where a politicians remarks are considered so vile and unacceptable that there are consequences.

But, that the bar is so low in some of these mid-western states is beyond sad, to the point of being pathetic.

Sorry, if my disgust was not more evidence. Expectations may have sunk so low that even what I thought would be obvious sarcastic seething contempt passes for neutral commentary.  I thought racism in the tags would be a clue. Maybe I should add "Blistering contemptuous sarcasm" as a new tag for this kind of dryly delivered sarcasm.

But, I recognized that you indignation is aim in the direction of Kansas.  Maybe I should have said more than the "even in Kansas" comment, which I already worried might not pass Wee Mama's "is is kind, is it necessary, is it true," and maybe jeopardize my chances of running for office there in the future, or any progressive.

But, in this case the necessary and true parts outweighed the short-comings on the kind part.  We do need to let Kansas voters know politicians like this are an embarrassment to themselves, the voters of Kansas, all of the United States and the world.  Even more tragic, there are places in the world where the idea of shooting unarmed civilians like feral pigs might be inspired literally and not metaphorically.

As human beings we should be horrified by talk like this, and if someone put the petition back into circulation demanding that he resign, I would sign it.

Perhaps, if I can get my Medicare Advantage insurance situation solved, I'll look up this petition and see if it is still in play and publish later this afternoon if there is enough interest.

      Thanks for commenting.
