    entertaining diary. As another expat, I think it's extremely important for our countrywo/men to learn about other cultures and lifestyles - without hyperbole or bombast. A nicely balanced approach is a much better way to educate and persuade. There are so many things the US could adopt from other countries to improve the quality of life, but all-too-often we close our eyes and keep repeating the mantra "We are the best/richest/whatever... country in the world" in other words: we don't need to follow any examples but our own. This kind of arrogance is just dangerous, and blinds us to the fact that numerous countries have or are in the process of overtaking us in some fields. Descriptions of the best aspects of other cultures should be an incentive to do better here, not incur resentment, and present ideas on how to improve as a society.
