    one to most people), that it is the responsibility of the factory owners to pay for these safety issues.

    This is going to leave a mark
    and many people will buy into that, because, well, it seems reasonable. of course, having said that, wal-mart, gap, target, etc. should have ceased contracting with any factory that failed to make those safety corrections. they didn't, because it was this failure that, at least in part, enabled those factories to make those products at such low cost, that they could still profit, even with the low prices their products were being sold to wal-mart, gap, target, etc., and that's all those companies really care about.

    the workers in those factories are simply interchangeable parts, easily replaced, and invisible on wal-mart's radar.
